Synergy Semiconductor Experts is a California LLC founded by Paul J Pearah, Ph.D., J.D. for the purpose of providing Expert Witness services to aid in the fair and just resolution of disputes in the semiconductor industry, with particular expertise in compound semiconductors. Dr. Pearah’s thorough analysis and testimony prevailed over that of a veteran semiconductor Expert on every consequential technical issue in a high-stakes arbitration in 2023. As an experienced Patent Attorney, he can rapidly assimilate a broad array of technologies.

In addition to his Technical Expert Witness experience, Paul was recently admitted as an Expert in Patent Law and Technology Licensing for an arbitration. His rare breadth and depth across several areas of expertise enable him to provide exceptional insights and value to his clients.
Paul’s education includes a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduate-level semiconductor physics courses at MIT. He has 20 years of experience in R&D, Product Development and Technical Management. As Director of Technology & IP of a Silicon Valley semiconductor company, he settled an IP dispute via JAMS arbitration in 2004. He worked in Patent Portfolio Management at a world-leading semiconductor manufacturing and IP licensing company, and holds a J.D. specialized in Intellectual Property Law.
Paul brings a broad technical background encompassing semiconductors and electronic devices, electronic thin films and materials, telecommunications systems, optical and optoelectronic systems, various software and computing applications, sensors and detectors, test and measurement instrumentation, lasers and LEDs, audio equipment, medical devices, and much more.
The approximately 50 technical papers Paul has published in peer-reviewed technical journals and conference proceedings primarily dealt with the development, epitaxial crystal growth and in-depth characterization of a wide variety of semiconductor materials, and with hands-on processing and testing of electronic devices fabricated from those materials. He has worked with devices ranging from various types of transistors to lasers, LEDs and detectors. Paul has an excellent foundation for deep understanding of any issue pertaining to semiconductor materials or devices, from mainstream to cutting edge materials including GaN and Diamond.
